A few poems written by Julie and later put to music. Several from JAB and from her current recording, Woe is Me.

Puppetry
Did you leave your ideals behind, with your diaries
In the cellar of your teenage mind?
You were a dreamer then, you could’ve been a shooting star,
But you stopped dreaming.
There is sadness now, watching a child,
Saying he is free and wild.
Somewhere in the family tree, someone wants to be free,
Gnawing on the wooden links, to break the chain of Puppetry.
Did people tell you not to shoot and not to wonder why
Just because they disapproved, just because they never tried?
Did someone tell you dreams are just for dreamers?
You won’t lose any ideas or miss what you love.
If someone told you to become a part of the real world,
Would you get tied up?
You, you used to be so free and wild, dream from afar,
Now you can’t take it from a child, telling you he will reach the stars.
Somewhere in the family web, someone has to jump the safety net,
A black sheep grazing on the need to snap the strings of Puppetry.
He will be disowned to be freed he will be shunned to succeed,
And that is how it’s always been, in the real world.

Yellow Bones
We have sight forward to light through paranoid delight.
And we move toward a vision that hits fate in the face
In the hardest collision.
We are all meek, mad and neutral
We are all good, bad and beautiful
We are gray stones, yellow bones,
Blue bloods with red floods,
Silvers skins with golden sins.
We dance around the circumstance
To how and why, and
When can we look up to own the rainbows
Shining high in the sky for our eyes below.
We are all meek, mad and neutral
We are all good, bad and beautiful
We are gray stones, yellow bones,
Blue bloods with red floods,
Silver skins with golden sins.

Working For The Man
Hey you, make yourself useful.
It seems to me that
That will only help me help you make a living.
Rub my eyes, get me out of bed, cause
I want to be productive.
They say, if you don’t find something he approves of,
Then we’ll find something for you.
And it will keep you here, long enough to steal you
From your own pursuits
Cause it’s not like you found some truth, no
Oh no, It’s not like you came to.
A scolding finger pointed from his envied hand,
As he pulled you backward to him
Enough to accept that you won’t regret
When you were almost the leader of your own direction
With the arrogant thought that had to suggest
You could be anything you want.
And that’s a rude sort of truth, standing at attention
For you and yet
It’s not like you saw through, no
Oh no, it’s not like you came to.
I don’t pay you to think!
You don’t get paid here to daydream.
Well, I hope I die before this makes me loose my mind!
Lately all I do is hear a tick.
I think I’m running out of time!
Cause it’s not like you have the tools to break through
It’s not like you ever came to.

Numbered Days
Might as well face it, you’re gonna need saving
And you’re gonna have to do it yourself.
All along you’ve listened to Sages speak
different truths, but it all points back to you
And what you choose to do.
These numbered days stay to remind us
How bittersweet this life we lead is
You are between the forces
Knowing who you are, core, is all
All hearts and souls of you reborn.
Bring it home, reunite the source.
From the start to the start
These numbered days stay to remind us
How bittersweet this life we lead is.

You’ve Got It
Man, you’ve got it coming to you
Don’t wait to feel okay
You know when people like us are down,
they celebrate.
Don’t hesitate, you know when we’ve got things to do
we play them away.
You get out the ammunition
Guard yourself well from a new position
Back to wall face them all on one condition
Don’t get through or I’ll be leaving you
Don’t contemplate, you know when people like that
Think hard, they break.
Don’t play away,
cause the last one to stay alive wins.
How unremarkable is that and how undignified
How unbelievable are you and how unwise am I.
Why don’t you get out the ammunition
Guard yourself well from a new position
Back to wall face them all on one condition
Don’t get through or I’ll be leaving you for another.

Stars
Stand inside shadows
Let your eyes feel night for once
In a lifetime.
There you will find light
Just in time you realize
You can’t see left without the right.
Stars in fields
Laugh and cry to feel the great design.
Stars in the skyline can frighten
The past of your mind
But when time ends on the horizon
What’ll you do then?
Lay it on the line’s line
Straight into those eyes
Waiting for sight.
There you will find life
Up and down, side to side,
The whole design of the great divide
Stars in fields
Meet them all in the great divine.

Morte A Credit
I never had a hero
Having the pick of hypocritical Princes,
Oh, your Unworthinesses
Oh yes, and pious Princesses.
Sexed up babies and board room words
Rattling the brains and the borders of the world
So proper and boring or full of fear and loathing
No, I haven’t had a role model before.
Want a hero?
Be your own.
Don’t pick from pricks
And choose from fools or
Play by the ordinary rules
You’re choosing between bad and evil,
Psycho or socio-
pathetic attempts are made
To raise some level of acceptance
And the public falls fainting, praising
What’s shoved in their faces.
But you’re always at the window
Witnessing the parades
Pressing the nose of snobbery against the pain
You don’t see strength in taking, taking, taking away
And neither do I.
Want a Hero?

There’s No Denying
Everything done is had by everyone
All you have, you do not own
Hoping to grow like we’re not only made of bone
Experience beyond skeletal
What was I doing suffering alone
If it’s all the same to everyone
There’s no denying, everything’s worth trying
All I want is no more struggling
Just give me
A little time if you please I think I need to feel it twice
Before being satisfied, unlike the first time
Now that’s gone by the wayside, hey God
I think I’m
Losing faith in trying to save my own good life
My own good life!
There’s no denying, everything’s worth trying
But all I want is no more struggling
All is not lost, I’m tough and won’t make God
Pay for what this cost.

On Blackness
The biggest fear there is, is falling in to blackness
And the second biggest fear is being invisible right here
He who falls behind the times will be set free
From all the pats upon his back by
Greedy people selling things he doesn’t need
The biggest wish there is, is never falling into blackness
And the second biggest wish is being rich, right now
He who holds his head up high inside the envy
He’s surrounded by would be worth the humility to see
My second biggest fault is too much and not enough talk
The biggest fault I have is too much thinking on blackness
He who falls behind the times will be set free.

Out of Order
Wish I had a penny for every time I wasn’t good enough
For each failure I made, about faces, underestimations, mistakes.
At least I’d be filling the banks
With hard earned heart aches
Out of order in to chaos
Out of chaos in to order again
I’m out of order in to chaos
Out of chaos looking for order again
Give me credit, I see I am filling my own head with
Knowing who I am, where I’m gonna go, I know
Success is in security, to me that is
Knowing who you are, what you’re gonna be, I know
Anything could happen now I know, and I’m prepared are you?
Out of order in to chaos

Conversation Piece
Hasn’t it been a long time?
I think we should have ourselves a drink
You would, ever loving, ever laughing
In the same old pubs that you did
On the same old streets where you live
And it’s not just here. It’s not just where I came from
It’s everywhere I go, it’s the same old same old.
I think I’ll have that drink
You see I travel lightly, want to know how much?
I have me and no sense of belonging.
What are you talking about?
You’re ever free and easy on a changing view of the world
In a different place then you were
And it’s not just that, it’s not just that you got bored
With everything that you saw, but that you saw it
In the same old way.
And I do believe that you’ve stopped believing in change
I believe you stopped believing.

From the Soil
Along the road of life, there are countless wonders hiding,
Endless detours on the sidelines.
Which ones compromise
Any shining light, any shining light?
The ess curves to a why,
Questioning the reasoning behind the lines of time
Caging us worldwide
We are in the darkest denial, the darkest denial
We think we’ll find all the joys in the world, oh boy,
It’s wonderful, we still destroy, our life from the soil
We think we’ll get all the answers with our research
Through narrow eyes, driving in the foggiest night, the foggiest night
We’re from the soil, from the soil, from the soil, and the sky.
The road turns to a runway, if you follow all the signs,
Skip the detours taking you aside.
Drive all night, drive all night
We think we’ll find all the joys in the world, oh boy,
It’s wonderful, we still destroy, our life from the soil
We think we will all unite, navigate the souless night.
We’re from the soil, from the soil, from the soil, and the sky.

In My Dreams
Float on the sea of the visioning, deeply sinking, you will not drown
Only in your nightmares you’re drowning, only in my dreams
Did I notice when I stopped the noise, shut my ears
And got some poise it felt better.
Fly in the sky of the imagery, soaring wildly, you will not fall
Only in your nightmares you’re falling, only in dreams
Do you notice it gets sort of funny, the joke of how
Emotion gets the best of us
That’s it, that nothingness, filling the void
In between the words, underneath the noise, behind your own voice.
In the beginning and the end, your worst enemy is your best friend.
Come with me to the middle ground, dance through the fields
God dreamed out, imagination creates the future we are living in,
Only in dreams
